About the Event

IMPORTANT NOTE: South Australian heat will only run if the minimum of 6 competitors is reached to ensure a fair and reputable competition in line with the other regions. In the case that the minimum is not reached, competitors will have the option to transfer their booking to either VIC or WA or be refunded in full.

We broke the format. The old mail-in round gave you a number and not much else, so we scrapped it. Now you roast on the day, on LINK roasters, against the clock: three mystery single origins, 45 minutes practice, 45 cupping, 30 minutes to land your competition roast, at least 10% of each coffee in the blend. Then every competitor picks up a spoon, because in this format the field judges itself, blind, on the new digital CVA form. Afterwards you get a full digital report on your coffee: every note, every descriptor, every impression your peers recorded, straight to you. Win the round, go straight to the Semi Finals.

On the day

• Three mystery single origins, supplied on the day. Up to 500g of each.
• 45 minutes practice roasting, 45 minutes cupping, 30 minutes competition roasting.
• Pre-blend or post-blend, your call. At least 10% of each coffee, minimum 150g submitted.
• LINK sample roasters, set up to World Coffee Roasting Championship spec.
• Every entrant cups. Attendance at the adjudication is part of competing.

Before you come

You'll be sent a link to the digital CVA form along with a short learning module. It takes about 30 minutes and needs to be done before the day, so you arrive knowing the form rather than learning it and the coffees at once.
